The promotional rounds for Jayeshbhai Jordaar are in full swing, often marked by Ranveer Singh’s growing wardrobe of colourful outfits. But the film landed in legal trouble not long ago. For the uninitiated, a bench at the Delhi High Court was hearing a petition against a prenatal sex determination test in the film as the act is “statutorily prohibited”. The plea demanded the removal of the scene in question. However, it is pivotal to the film’s plot.
The bench asked Yash Raj Films to show them the film in a screening ahead of its May 13 release. After examining the scenes that depict prenatal sex determination, the Delhi High Court cleared Jayeshbhai Jordaar for theatrical release with new disclaimers.
As per a leading news portal, the court order read, “We have also perused the trailer and also the relevant scenes from the movie. We had suggested certain further disclaimers to be displayed in the trailer and also in the movie when the scenes in relation to ultrasound scene and another connected scene is depicted. The learned senior counsel, without prejudice to his submissions, has agreed to depict a further static warning/disclaimer to be depicted during the running of both the scenes.”
The report also says that the disclaimer will be added to the trailer of the film that is currently out on YouTube. The trailer for Jayeshbhai Jordaar which stars Ranveer Kapoor, Shalini Pandey, Ratna Pathak Shah and Boman Irani opened to a largely positive audience response. It offered a glimpse of the social comedy that revolves around one man’s journey to protect his family including his to-be born child in a patriarchal society.
The Ranveer Sigh-led film arrives in cinemas on May 13.
