HIGHLIGHTS

  • Play was extended for 30 minutes on Sunday for there to be a result
  • West Indies won the second Test in Dhaka by 17 runs
  • They won the first Test in Chattogram by three wickets

West Indies spinner Rahkeem Cornwall took 9 wickets as the visitors went on to win a thrilling Test match in Dhaka on Sunday to seal the series 2-0.

It was a nail-biter as 30 minutes were extended on Sunday as Windies needed just 2 wickets and Bangladesh were 50 runs away from a historic win.

But the West Indies spinners did exceedingly well to wrap this up and win it by 17 runs. This is the first time in 65 years that all the wickets were taken by spinners for the Windies in a Test innings.

Rahkeem Cornwall took 4 wickets as Jomel Warrican and skipper Kraigg Brathwaite took 3 each in the second innings.

Former West Indies player Ian Bishop called this the ‘greatest achievements in recent years’ by the Windies.

“It surely has to rank as one of the greatest achievements in recent years for @windiescricket to win both test matches here in Bangladesh. Kraig Braithwaite was outstanding as a captain today. Well played gentlemen,” Ian Bishop tweeted after the match.
